A Tale of Two Cell Phones

Now I have two cell phones. The one on the left, my HTC P4000, is my personal PDA smart phone. The one on the right, my Blackberry 8830, is my work phone. I do not want to have two cell phones.
Two will go into battle. Only one will survive.

My Ericsson T610 has served me well for a couple of years, but I’ve finally decided it’s time for something nicer. So, the other day I stopped by the local T-Mobile store, renewed my contract, and picked up this guy.
So far, I like it a lot. As a smartphone, of course it’s a lot less capable than a full Windows Mobile PDA. I’ve used Windows Mobile Phone Edition devices, though, and while they make good PDAs, I think they just make lousy phones. They’re too big to keep in a pocket all the time, their screens are much more delicate, they’re uncomfortable to hold against your face, the software for dealing with quick phone operations is cumbersome, and they’re not so friendly to one-handed operation.
This, though less of a PDA, make a very nice phone. There’s lots of third party software that runs nicely on it’s 200MHz ARM processor, it’s got 802.11b, bluetooth, a standard USB port, and if you’re willing to get into registry editing and fooling with XML files and such, it’s incredibly customizable.
This home screen is my own design, based loosely on a few nice once I’ve come across. The picture is my own, as you’ll find a bit earlier on in my photostream.
